Thousands of years ago, the people of the Persian Empire put snow in a bowl and poured concentrated grape juice as a treat. Even if the weather is hot, they will taste this sweetness. Their trick? They put the snow in a basement called yakchal, where the temperature can prevent the snow from melting. The Persians also hiked through their summer capital to the top of the mountain to collect snow.

In the Tang Dynasty around 697 AD, the Chinese began to freeze dairy products with salt and ice. However, the result is not exactly the ice cream we enjoy today. Later on frozen foods and beverages, culinary professionals pointed out that Naples, Italy was the birthplace of the first ice cream. They attribute the credit to Antonio Latini. He was born in 1642 and created a milk-based sorbet.

In the United States, the Quaker colonists won a praise for bringing their ice cube recipes. They opened the first ice cream shop, including colonial shops in New York and other cities.
